Why did Google get rid of SketchUp?
It wasn't that SketchUp wasn't working. It had 30 million activations since joining Google as part of @Last Software in March 2006. But it just didn't fit with the direction Google is heading in. It's a relatively niche product for architects and the construction industry, game developers, and filmmakers.

SketchUp Free is the simplest free 3D modeling software on the web — no strings attached.
Trimble offers a free cloud-based version of the software for regular users, SketchUp Free, with a great selection of tools that should be appealing to beginners. The more professional and feature-filled options, SketchUp Pro and SketchUp Studio, are based on a somewhat pricey subscription model.
Usually if SketchUp quits on startup or opening a file, the graphics card or its drivers are to blame. If your profile info is correct, try updating the graphics drivers for the Nvidia card and make sure that card is being used by SketchUp and not the integrated one. Make sure SketchUp 2022 was installed correctly.
Google Acquisition
In March 2006 Google bought @Last Software, impressed by their acquisition's innovative work on a Google Earth plugin. And in early 2007 Google announced the arrival of something called Google SketchUp 6.
SketchUp - The Best Architectural Program
Overall, for the price, reliability, and productivity that SketchUp delivers, it's completely unbeatable. It's an essential tool to keep in your toolbox and use long term. It's more efficient to use it to make houses, parts, or landscape plans than most other programs.
There is no difference between Google SketchUp and Trimble SketchUp.
You can download recent older SketchUp versions here. If you have a SketchUp Go subscription or you're looking for SketchUp Free you can launch SketchUp For Web here! Attention: Installing SketchUp 2022 for Windows will require the following system files if they're not already present on the target machine.
SketchUp (formerly Google SketchUp) is a 3D modeling CAD software used by both professionals and amateurs alike. SketchUp allows the creation of a large number of 3D models, and is also suitable for large architectural projects (e.g., landscape design).
Can you download SketchUp free anymore?
Yes! SketchUp Free is a truly free product for personal projects (non-commercial applications). It works in any modern web browser (so... not IE), so you can now use SketchUp on Mac, Windows, Linux, and even Chromebooks!
SketchUp Viewer for Desktop and SketchUp Mobile Viewer allow others to view the models you share with them, whether they have access to SketchUp or not. Both are available free but AR capabilities require an active subscription or an in-app purchase on mobile.

AutoCAD is comparatively better than SketchUp when it comes to rendering the details. Models in AutoCAD can effectively replicate shadows under various lighting conditions. Designs in SketchUp are not as detailed compared to AutoCAD, and one can tell looking at the design it is software work.
Ending your subscription does not necessarily mean you will lose all of your files. You can save your files on your own computer for safekeeping. As long as you keep those saved files up to date you can continue to open them in the free version of SketchUp for Web.
LibreCAD. This 2D CAD program is a great way to learn and practice 2D modeling. It's completely free and open source, with a healthy user base to boot. LibreCAD is a good alternative to SketchUp if the 3D capability isn't required.

An outdated Chrome build might be the culprit behind the browser's automatically closing issue. While Google Chrome auto-updates in the background, you can use the steps below to check and install the latest update manually.
The Quick Answer. Check that your system meets the requirements for SketchUp. Reboot your system to ensure that SketchUp isn't locked by another process. Make sure that there aren't any applications running on your system that might conflict with SketchUp, such as anti-virus, firewall, or internet security software.
The most common causes of Blender crashes: Running out of memory. Issues with graphics hardware or drivers. Bugs in Blender.
In a statement, Trimble says the SketchUp acquisition will “enhance our ability to extend our existing market applications including the cadastral, heavy civil, and building and construction industries.”
What are the negatives of SketchUp?
Pros and Cons
"Cons; moving objects can be a little difficult to toggle. It's hard to easily connect different points." "Occasionally lacking tools for troubleshooting designs. Some export options are limited and require searching for plugins."
Designing objects and selling them on 3D model websites can be a lucrative way to make money with Sketchup. It can be difficult to gain traction using this method, but if you're looking for some passive income and enjoy modeling objects in Sketchup, this may be the option for you!
SketchUp is 3D software that anyone can learn within just a few hours of practice. Its interface is very intuitive, and once you start modeling a simple object, you can rapidly understand what each tool does. Without a doubt, SketchUp has a simpler and easier learning curve than AutoCAD.
From our research and first-hand experience, we would recommend Rhino for more industrial design projects and Sketchup for architecture. Rhino has an amazing variety of plugins allowing you to have the ultimate design freedom.
Whereas SketchUp is a catch-all 3D modeling software, Cedreo is one of the SketchUp alternatives that is highly specialized for its ideal users: homebuilders, remodelers, and interior designers. Cedreo is a home design software — not a 3D modelization software — so it is much easier to use than SketchUp.
2022 is off to a great start with brand-new updates in SketchUp Pro and LayOut. The release includes new and improved modeling tools, additional search functionality, and time-saving enhancements.
Google acquired SketchUp from its developer, @Last Software, in 2006. As part of the SketchUp platform, Trimble will also partner with Google on running and further developing SketchUp's 3D Warehouse, an online repository where users can find, share, store and collaborate on 3D models.
In summary, SketchUp is as SketchUp does. Give it a try, and you'll see what I mean. The two aren't even in the same ballpark. Blender is for game or video modeling and animating, while SketchUp is for architecture and interior design.
SketchUp: A Short History
In addition, it's no longer owned by Google, having been bought by Trimble in 2012. As for the software itself, the free version, previously called SketchUp Make, then SketchUp Free, used to be available for download. It's now been updated as SketchUp Web and runs solely on your browser.
There is no difference between Google SketchUp and Trimble SketchUp.
Is SketchUp better than blender?
SketchUp is the clear winner when it comes to learning the software. As soon as you open it up, you can click on the pencil and start pushing/pulling things to get very intricate models. Blender is legitimately challenging to learn, especially when it comes to people who are familiar with other 3D modeling programs.
AutoCAD is comparatively better than SketchUp when it comes to rendering the details. Models in AutoCAD can effectively replicate shadows under various lighting conditions. Designs in SketchUp are not as detailed compared to AutoCAD, and one can tell looking at the design it is software work.
