Well with the rink refurb on indefinite hold this is a good chance to do a minor spruce up while the enfoced closeure is in. Must have hit PIs profits having the rink out for school holidays though which is not so good.

Please Note:
Due to issues with refrigeration plant and the cooling tower, a decision has been made in consultation with Milton Keynes Council and the relevant stakeholders to close Planet Ice (Milton Keynes) for a short period of time in order to make the necessary repairs.

John Neville, Managing Director commented "We have chosen to take this action now to minimise the disruption to the community teams and clubs that use the rink by undertaking the work outside of the ice hockey season."

He continued, "We are looking to provide ice slots to figure skaters and some of the ice hockey teams at other Planet Ice venues (Hemel Hempstead, Coventry and Peterborough)whilst the work is being undertaken."

We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to have the facility back up and fully operational within 2 to 3 weeks. We will put updates as and when available on our website www.planet-ice.co.uk

We are at pains to stop any rumours that the facility is closing for good and we look forward to welcoming customers to the rink and obviously the MK Lightning when they ice in the English Premier Ice League come the start of September.

Talking of new Nets, visibility would improve no end, and maybe people would use both ends more because of this.

Have to say I only tried F block once and was put off by the poor view through the black nets. So you may have a point.

I really really want to go and watch hockey at Hemel Hempstead....Doesnt it have supporting poles for the roof in the middle of the ice?!?!? hehe That would be quite funny to watch - almost like having an extra D man! (tho if it was in Potty, they'd claim that they had a new "pole-ish" import and that they're still paying him full wages at christmas time!)

Strangely I don't remember the netting ever being any other colour lol.
But agree it does seem to take your eye off the action in its presen5 state.

On July 31st, Planet Ice announced a temporary closure of its ice skating rink in Milton Keynes to make ‘necessary repairs’ after careful consultation with Milton Keynes Council and other relevant stakeholders. Planet Ice promised customers and Ice Hockey fans minimal disruption and a prompt action plan to ensure the rink reopened as quickly as possible.

Today, Planet Ice Managing Director John Neville has stated ‘We are ahead of schedule and very happy with the way the work is proceeding. We are aware of the concern from Ice Hockey, fans but we can assure them that the ice will be
ready for MK Lightning’s friendly against Telford Tigers. All the parts required are on-site and technicians will be handing the rink back to Planet Ice to make ice this week’. MK Lightning General Manager, Vito Rausa said, "Everyone at Lightning is looking forward to starting a very competitive season on what we know will be a first class ice pad. We have absolutely every confidence that they will see this project through to completion successfully, and we thank them for providing alternative training venues".

Planet Ice are expecting to re-open the doors on Wednesday August 15th and are advising that people look for updates on their Facebook page and the website at www.planet-ice.co.uk
