Default From Cliff - Re Firefighters v Combined Services

Hi All,

Just a quick one from me to say thanks to everyone for coming out to support our fundraising effort on Saturday.

I have sent out an email to everyone who assisted us on the day doing the match day jobs and I apologise if I have missed anyone off but have asked Karen to forward to anyone I left out, the people who very kindly gave their time and effort to us were;

Rob Clarkson (DJ)

Chris and Mel Dickens (Announcing and Photography)

Fiona Heron (Gamesheet)

Simon Hunter (Timekeeper)

Dave Carmichael (Bench)

Tony Green (Penalty Box)

Rob Kershaw (Goal Judge)

Ivor Gregory (Goal Judge)

Trace Richardson (Raffle and PR)

Laura Cox (Raffle)

Emily Cox (Raffle)

Chris and Derek Roberts (Equipment etc)

Tom Walker (Assisting the team)

Bob Eggleston (Ice Cuts)

Lewis Fox (Ice Cuts)

Also thanks to David Jacobson who was great sorting things out from the Planet Ice side.

And last but by no means least Karen Starkey who sorted everything on the night so that I could just worry about playing knowing the organisation was left in safe hands.

My team mates and I were absolutely blown away by the turn out and the amount you all contributed to the Charity. Prior to the game we had hoped for about 200 spectators and to raise £1000 for the charity, however we more than doubled both of those figures. It was great to see so many of you there spectating and getting behind both the teams, there were definitely people supporting both teams which made for a great atmosphere. A lot of the guys don’t often get to play in front of such a big loud crowd and were buzzing after the game about it. As far as I know having not been on the team for long it is the most we have ever raised from a charity game, which doesn’t surprise me with how hard all the people mentioned above worked in the lead up to the game and on the night.

The result on the ice wasn’t what we had hoped for, however the result off the ice in the stands and the collection buckets was better than we ever expected.

All the players wanted me to say thanks to everyone and they would all be keen to return for another fixture in the future, maybe same time next year!

Thanks again to everyone who attended and played a part in the evening. Enjoy your summer, and see you in the new season if not before.

All the best,

Cliff.
