I'd hope we get a few of those youngsters (Knaggs, Johnson & Billing) out on loan/2-way contracts really. All good up-and coming players but can't think they'd get the minutes they need in the Elite?

Hoping to see a few of the lads signing up for Thunder. Who's locally-based out of the Brit contingent?

Billing and Johnson just aren't ready/good enough for the Elite league. They'll fill the U23 slots, benchwarm and be cheap. They need to develop in the NIHL before moving up. I'd suggest the same is true for Knaggs as well, but I'd take him up on a two-way deal.

We knew it was going to happen, but now it has. Good luck to the guys wherever they end up, and thanks for the efforts and memories over the years.

Some definite shirt retirements needed I think!!

I think all the ones that have been released apart from Cownie and Scott are locally based. From the release though, it sounds like they have signed for different clubs, but that could just be a curve-ball.

We all knew this was coming but it doesn't make it any less sad. It's going to be really strange watching Lightning without these guys.

Billing and Johnson are not good enough for Elite, it will be a waste for us and them for have them sitting on the bench just making up the numbers. They would be much better off playing regularly for a team in the league below, maybe for MK Thunder where they can get decent ice time at hopefully a decent level.

Can we assume Sam Jones is not coming back? He seems a forgotten man in all of this.
