Default Now Planet Ice have sold the Rink

http://www.propertyfundsworld.com/2017/04/07/250508/aew-acquires-milton-keynes-planet-ice-investment

Sold to the company who owned the lease on the doomed Isle of Wight rink.

Interesting times ahead.

This was back in April? PI still run the rink so it's business as normal isn't it?

I would think we wouldn't notice any change and it's a 20 year lease to PI. Interesting that is says PI will initially pay 300k a year rent until it's reviewed in 5 years, just wonder about rink maintenance etc

If I have my math correct then the rink needs to generate £34.25ph (every hour of the year) excluding all other costs to pay the rent.

Hope there is a Álause in it to make structural improvements and maintenance as required, or will that fall back on the operators ..

OK so planet ice have sold the rink and the franchise, a good time to watch and wait to see if the franchise is a successful business,. The only thing that may hold it back is rink capacity. So perhaps they are betting to build a bigger capacity venue, with an ice pad. Milton Keynes could do with a arena sized stadium of say the size of Coventry or perhaps the size of Sheffield. Thoughts?

Mk has a rink of similar size to cov. 2800 seats v 3000....
I thought the mk bowl was a similar size to Sheffield arena! Can't see the city needing two...
Besides, the rink has just been refurbished they won't build another so soon

I might be wrong but does MK have more standing than Cov? Certainly seems more space around plexi.

Thought coventry was a higher capacity, PI probably didn't pay for the refurbishment, Morrisons probably had to foot the bill as part of the planning acceptance for the new store. MK, in fact the region needs an indoor arena sized venue, doesn't take much to lay an ice pad down as well. That way MK Lightning could expand to a regional team

As I understand it, the mk ice pad is bigger than the cov one, which would mean there is room for more folks to fit around the plexi.
However, the gap between the seating and ice seems larger at cov, it's certainly easier to move around at period breaks there ( although toilets in 4 places might help that one too )

How do you mean 'a regional team'?
There are already a lot of fans from outside the MK city limits...
