I thought he'd been announced somewhere too, but he's still classed as a free agent on Elite Prospects.

I think Tait could still do a job in the Elite league. For me, Tait would be a step up from Boxhill. His stats weren't great last season as part of a very poor Blaze team, but there aren't many players in the league that could bring the level of experience he has.

True, I'm a fan (mainly from playing 'old' Eastside Hockey Manager databases when he was in his prime!).

I just think we've only got limited space in the squad, imagine we'll go with 10 forwards and only see 4 lines if both Luc and Glenn Billing play-up.

Boxhill has clearly come in to centre the 3rd line, which I imagine might be more of a shut-down line than Pete has traditionally gone for (he's always struck me as liking 3 'equal' lines as opposed to one to shut-down other teams, the line-combos in the playoffs last year showed how that worked when it comes-together). So I just don't think there's room on the roster (once we've filled out the import-spaces).

Currently -1

No not the usual stat that the players like to know, but I thought it might be an idea to keep an account of what players have gone and how many newbies we have.

So if we ignore those that are staying

Jordan and Premy, Lewis Hook, Griff, Luc, Ed and Glen

and the unknowns

Sam Jones

We have lost 13

Adam Carr, Michael Farn, Leigh Jamieson, Craig Scott, Lewis Christie
Jordan Cownie, James Neill, Frankie Bakrlik, Miko Lupuski, Antti Holli
Milan Barynyk , Tom Carlon and Blaz Emersic.

And gained 12

Guilliame Doucet (f), Kevin King (f), Kyle Essery (f) Matt Nickerson (d), Ludwig Karlsson (f)
Denny Kearney (f), Carl Hudson (d), Jonathan Boxill (f), Paul Phillips (d), Francis Verreault-Paul (f)
Ben Foster (f), Christian Isackson (f)

Currently Even (though we do have three now four players on two way contracts)

Now most of the players are signed:

Kearney (I) - Verreault-Paul (I) - Doucet (I)
Karlsson (I) - Isackson (I) - Essery (I)
Ben Foster (I) - Boxhill - King (I)
Johnson (U23) - Hook - Billing (U23)

Phillips (I) - Nickerson (I)
Import - Hudson (I)
Pompi (I) - Griffin
Knaggs (U23)

Hedley
Odrobny (I)
Long

(Just from a look at the player's positions on EP; not sure if any other guys can play centre for instance or if anyone will be playing on their 'off-side')

I think that's pretty good guess in terms of lines.

I'd maybe swap King and Karlsson around so all the Gap lads are on the same line. Also, I'm not sure Nickerson is a top line EIHL defender, but he may go on that line to protect the skill players.

I really hope Hook isn't just used as a 10th forward this season. His game came on leaps and bounds last season when he moved to centre, so hopefully, he'll continue in that role this coming season. No offence to the other guys, but he's also far too good to be playing with Johnson and Billing on the 4th line if and when they dress.

Yeah was wondering whether we'd have a 'Gap-line'. But would need someone to play 'off-side' (according to Elite Prospects anyway)

Also would like to see Hooky as '10th Forward' (as I don't imagine we'll see Luc and Glenn icing many weekends) but would be good if he was given shifts on some of the 'scoring' lines, just sub him in for some of the imports. He's versatile so could play all across the forward-lines.

Either that or he'll be swapping with Foster I imagine?

Doubt that we will see Johnson or Billing ice at all next season, don't think we will see them in many if any match day squads.

So with Alex Forbes announced, there's one more slot to fill. He looks a decent prospect. He had slightly better stats than Bobby in the WSHL, so it'll be interesting to see how he gets on in the Elite League.

I would guess that the last signing to be an experienced import defender.

It'll be interesting to see how it would work with the U23 guys. When there isn't a fixture clash with their respective NIHL teams, I'd personally expect them to dress for MKL (especially for home games). Even if means just sitting on the bench or getting one or two shifts a game, at least they're in it and getting experience at Elite League level.
