As there is over a year left before the refrigerant gas has to be changed in the plant,the work needed can be done with existing components, so hopefully cheaper, if not easier. (You also need to find 'used' gas if there is a leak, as 'virgin' R22 is no longer available).

But we still don't know if it is all unnecessary as the rink is to be re-built. Helical Bar is a 50% owner of the Leisure Plaza and still has this on their website under their strategy overview;

They also boast of a number of retail clients at other developments, but don't seem to be able to attract them here! We are still completely in the dark. I wonder what the Council view is of the deteriorating area in which the rink and their commitment to retaining it, sits.
